Märkärakkulat

Märkärakkulat is a Finnish term that translates to "wet blisters" or "moist vesicles" in English. It refers to a type of skin lesion characterized by the presence of fluid-filled sacs that appear moist or weeping. These lesions are not a specific diagnosis but rather a descriptive term for a particular presentation of various skin conditions.

Märkärakkulat can manifest in several dermatological conditions. They are commonly associated with acute eczematous dermatitis, where the skin becomes inflamed and can develop small, fluid-filled blisters that may rupture and ooze. Infections, particularly viral infections like herpes simplex or varicella (chickenpox), can also present with märkärakkulat. Bacterial infections, such as impetigo, can sometimes lead to similar moist, crusted lesions. Allergic reactions and contact dermatitis can also trigger the formation of these types of blisters.

The appearance of märkärakkulat can vary depending on the underlying cause. They are typically small, often grouped together, and may be surrounded by redness or inflammation. The fluid within them can be clear, yellowish, or cloudy. If the blisters rupture, they can leave behind raw, weeping surfaces that may then form crusts.
