Munankuori
Munankuori, commonly referred to as eggshell, is the hard outer covering of a bird egg. It is primarily composed of calcium carbonate in the form of calcite, reinforced by an organic matrix of proteins and polysaccharides. The shell accounts for roughly 9–12 percent of an egg’s weight and varies in thickness from about 0.3 to 0.4 millimeters in many species, with variations among breeds and ages.
