Mikrofibroottisia

Mikrofibroottisia refers to microfibers, which are synthetic or natural fibers that are less than one denier or one decitex in diameter. This means they are extremely thin, often finer than silk. They are commonly produced from petroleum-based synthetics such as polyester, nylon, and acrylic. Microfibers are often used in the production of textiles for clothing, home furnishings, and industrial applications due to their softness, absorbency, and durability.

The production process for microfibers involves extruding molten plastic through tiny spinnerets, creating very fine filaments. These filaments can then be woven or knitted into fabrics. Fabrics made from microfibers are known for their ability to trap moisture and dirt effectively. They are also lightweight and breathable, making them popular for sportswear and cleaning cloths.

However, the widespread use of microfibers has raised environmental concerns. During washing, these tiny fibers can shed from synthetic textiles and enter waterways, eventually reaching oceans. These microplastic particles can be ingested by marine life and have been found to accumulate in the food chain. Efforts are underway to develop more sustainable microfiber production methods and to mitigate their environmental impact through improved laundry practices and filtration technologies.
