Microprints

Microprints are tiny, often intricate, patterns or images that are too small to be clearly seen with the naked eye. They are frequently used as a security feature on documents, currency, and official identification to prevent counterfeiting. When viewed under magnification, such as with a magnifying glass or microscope, the fine details of the microprint become discernible, revealing text or graphic elements that would otherwise be invisible or appear as a solid line.

The creation of microprints involves specialized printing techniques, often utilizing high-resolution offset or intaglio printing methods. The accuracy and minuscule size of the printed elements make them exceptionally difficult to reproduce without the original equipment and expertise. This makes them a reliable deterrent against unauthorized duplication. Common examples of microprint text include phrases like "The United States of America" on U.S. currency or specific serial numbers and identifying marks on passports. Their presence signifies a measure of authenticity and security for the document.
