Metastatikus

Metastatikus is a Hungarian indie rock band formed in Budapest in 2007. The group emerged from the local music scene and quickly gained attention for their energetic live performances and unique blend of rock, pop, and electronic influences. The band’s name, "Metastatikus," translates to "metastatic" in English, a term used in medicine to describe the spread of cancer cells, which the members have described as a metaphor for the way music can spread and evolve.

The original lineup consisted of frontman and guitarist Ádám Szabó, bassist Márton Szabó, drummer Balázs Szabó, and keyboardist Márton Szabó (no relation to the bassist). Over the years, the band has experienced some lineup changes, but Ádám Szabó has remained the core member, handling vocals and guitar. Their sound is characterized by catchy melodies, dynamic shifts between soft and aggressive passages, and a mix of acoustic and electronic textures.

Metastatikus released their debut album, *Metastatikus*, in 2010, which included hits like "És mégis" and "Szerelem." The album showcased their ability to balance introspective lyrics with upbeat, danceable rhythms. Their follow-up, *A világ vége* (2012), further refined their style, incorporating more electronic and experimental elements while maintaining their accessibility. The band’s 2015 release, *A világ vége (deluxe edition)*, expanded on their previous work with additional tracks and a more polished production.

Beyond their studio output, Metastatikus is known for their high-energy live performances, often incorporating pyrotechnics and elaborate stage setups. They have toured extensively across Hungary and internationally, collaborating with other European artists and performing at major festivals. The band’s music has been praised for its emotional depth and versatility, appealing to both rock and pop audiences.

In recent years, Metastatikus has continued to evolve, blending their signature sound with new influences while maintaining a strong connection to their roots.
