Metallgewebe, also known as metal fabric or wire mesh, refers to a material constructed by weaving, knitting, or interlocking metallic wires. The process typically involves using specialized looms to create a flexible yet strong fabric-like material from metal. The type of metal used can vary widely, including stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and various alloys, each lending different properties to the final product.

The characteristics of metallgewebe are largely determined by the wire diameter, the spacing between wires (mesh size), and the weaving pattern. Common weave patterns include plain weave, twill weave, and dutch weave, which influence the mesh's rigidity, filtration capabilities, and visual appearance.
