Meiósuskiptingu

Meiósuskiptingu, also known as meiotic skipping, is a biological phenomenon observed during meiosis, the specialized cell division process that produces gametes (sperm and eggs) in sexually reproducing organisms. Usually, meiosis involves two sequential divisions—meiosis I and meiosis II—that halve the chromosome number and generate genetically diverse reproductive cells.

Meiósuskiptingu occurs when certain stages or steps within the meiotic process are bypassed or skipped. This can happen due to genetic mutations, environmental factors, or alterations in cellular regulatory mechanisms. The result is often the production of abnormal gametes with an incorrect number of chromosomes, leading to aneuploidy, which can cause developmental abnormalities or infertility.

Biologically, meiosis involves critical processes such as homologous chromosome pairing, recombination, and chromosomal segregation.
