Mazepin refers to Nikita Mazepin, a Russian racing driver. He competed in Formula One for the Haas F1 Team during the 2021 and part of the 2022 seasons. Mazepin began his motorsport career in karting before moving to single-seater racing. His transition to Formula One with Haas was notable due to his funding through his father's Uralkali company, a Russian fertilizer producer. Mazepin's time in Formula One was marked by several incidents and penalties, often related to his aggressive driving style. In 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Uralkali's sponsorship of the Haas F1 Team was terminated, and Mazepin was subsequently released from his contract. The team cited the ongoing geopolitical events and the need to align with the sport's values as reasons for the decision. Mazepin has not competed in Formula One since his departure.
