Mallakhamb
Mallakhamb is a traditional Indian sport that involves performing gymnastic feats while climbing and hanging from a vertical wooden pole. The name itself translates to "acrobatic pole" in Sanskrit, with "malla" meaning wrestler or gymnast and "khamb" meaning pole. This ancient sport is believed to have originated in Maharashtra, India, and is often practiced by wrestlers as a form of cross-training to develop strength, agility, and balance.
The apparatus used in Mallakhamb consists of a vertical wooden pole, typically around 2.5 to 3 meters
Beyond its physical demands, Mallakhamb is also considered an aesthetic spectacle, often accompanied by rhythmic music.
