Mainalo

Mainalo is a mountain range located in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. It is the highest mountain range in the Peloponnese, with its highest peak, Profitis Ilias, reaching an elevation of 1,981 meters. Mainalo is part of the larger Pindus mountain range. The landscape is characterized by dense fir forests, rocky slopes, and deep ravines. Several rivers originate in Mainalo, including the Alfeios and Lousios rivers.

The area is known for its rich biodiversity, with a variety of flora and fauna. It is home to species such as the Greek fir, numerous wildflowers, and various mammals including wild boar and foxes. Birds of prey, including eagles and falcons, are also common. The climate of Mainalo is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Snowfall is frequent at higher elevations during winter months, making it a popular destination for winter sports.
