MYS15

MYS15 is a small satellite bus developed by MYSpace Technologies for educational and research use. It was announced in 2020 as a 15-kilogram, modular platform designed to host science payloads and technology demonstrations. The design emphasizes rapid integration and open interfaces to support collaborations between universities, industry, and space agencies.

The platform features a modular bus with a central payload bay, three-axis attitude control using reaction wheels and magnetorquers, sun sensors, and an onboard computer. Power is provided by deployable solar panels and a rechargeable battery system. Communications support includes UHF/VHF and optional X-band links for higher data rates, with standard interfaces to ground stations.

Development and deployment: built through collaboration between MYSpace Technologies and academic partners. Prototypes underwent environmental testing, thermal vacuum, and EMI screening. The first flight demonstration occurred in 2022, and subsequent missions expanded payload options.

Applications: used for Earth observation demonstrations, atmospheric sensing, technology demonstrations, and education. The open payload interface supports imaging, spectroscopy, environmental sensors, and experimental avionics.

Reception and significance: widely regarded for affordability and adaptability in the small-satellite community, enabling student projects and early-stage research. It has faced competition from other 15-kg class buses but has helped broaden access to space for universities and startups.
