These amplifiers can be designed in various configurations, including common source, common drain (source follower), and common gate, analogous to their bipolar junction transistor (BJT) counterparts. Common source amplifiers typically offer high voltage gain and high input impedance. Common drain amplifiers provide voltage gain close to unity but offer excellent buffering capabilities with high input impedance and low output impedance.
