MOFverkot

MOFverkot is a modular toolkit for researchers working with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). It combines software workflows and optional hardware components to support the design, synthesis planning, characterization, and data management of MOFs. The project aims to improve reproducibility and collaboration by standardizing common tasks in MOF research and providing an integrable platform for different instruments and databases.

Key software modules include a design assistant for selecting metal nodes and organic linkers to target properties, a synthesis planner that estimates feasible reaction conditions and timelines, and a data analysis pipeline for porosity, surface area, and gas adsorption simulations. A database interface enables search and import/export of materials from public repositories, while metadata capture promotes reproducibility.

Hardware components, when included, offer modular bench units such as flow reactors or in-situ spectroscopic sensors that can be integrated with conventional lab setups to enable rapid screening and real-time monitoring. The toolkit prioritizes interoperability with standard file formats and established MOF databases.

MOFverkot is used in both academic and industrial settings to accelerate discovery of MOFs for applications in gas storage, separations, catalysis, and sensing. It remains a developing concept, with ongoing work to harmonize licensing, expand database compatibility, and enhance user interfaces.
