Lõpptugevust is an Estonian term that translates to "ultimate strength" or "breaking strength" in English. It refers to the maximum stress that a material can withstand while being stretched or pulled before it breaks. This property is a crucial factor in material science and engineering, as it dictates the limits of a material's load-bearing capacity.

The concept of lõpptugevust is typically determined through tensile testing. In this process, a standardized specimen of the material is subjected to a gradually increasing tensile load until it fractures. The maximum load achieved during this test, divided by the original cross-sectional area of the specimen, gives the ultimate tensile strength.

Different materials exhibit vastly different lõpptugevust values.
