Lægemiddelproduktion, also known as pharmaceutical manufacturing, is the industrial process of large-scale synthesis and processing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and the subsequent formulation into finished dosage forms. This complex process ensures the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines that are distributed to patients.

The production process typically begins with the synthesis of APIs, which are the biologically active components of a drug. This involves intricate chemical reactions often carried out in specialized facilities under strict environmental controls.
