Lukistia

The Republic of Lukistia, commonly Lukistia, is a fictional sovereign state and archipelago used as a setting in various media. Located in the southern temperate zone, it comprises about 40 islands off the eastern coast of the fictional continent of Nyara. The capital is Lumara; official language is Lukish, with English widely spoken in business and tourism.

Geography: The archipelago features three large islands—Alara, Verda, and Ciran—dominated by forested highlands, volcanic peaks on Alara, and coral coasts. The economy varies by island, with agriculture on Verda and tourism along Verda and Lumara Bay. Maritime climate yields mild winters and warm summers.

History: The Lukish people established settlements in the medieval period and unified the archipelago into the Lukistian Republic in the mid-20th century. It adopted a democratic constitution in 1981 and maintained independence through regional diplomacy and peaceful reform. It is not part of any larger empire in the current setting.

Government: Lukistia is a unitary parliamentary republic. The President serves as head of state and the Prime Minister as head of government. The National Assembly comprises 78 members elected by proportional representation for four-year terms. The judiciary is independent, with a constitutional court overseeing civil liberties.

Economy and society: The economy combines fishing, tourism, light manufacturing, and information services. The Luk is the currency. The population is about 2.3 million, with Lukish as the majority language; minority communities include Arani and Serin groups. Education is compulsory through secondary level; literacy is high.

Culture and landmarks: Cultural life centers on music, maritime festivals, and crafts. Notable sites include Lumara Fortress, Lukistia National Park, and the Port of Vostro. The country is home to several universities and regional museums.
