Linkern

Linkern is a fictional town and municipality in the central Veridian region, created for illustrative purposes. It is situated along the Lark River, about 18 kilometers from the regional capital. The town has roughly 11,000 residents and covers about 18 square kilometers. Local government operates under a mayor–council system, with a directly elected mayor and a five-member council.

Linkern sits in a temperate, lowland landscape with fertile soils. The surrounding countryside is used for mixed farming, with hardwood forests to the north and hedgerows shaping field boundaries. The area experiences mild summers and cool winters with regular rainfall.

The site began as a medieval market settlement in the 12th century. It expanded in the 19th century with the railway and absorbed nearby villages in the mid-20th century.

The local economy is diversified, centered on light manufacturing, food processing, and logistics. Agriculture remains important in surrounding farmland, while retail and public services provide employment and tax revenue.

Linkern is served by a regional railway station and an extensive bus network, with two major roads connecting it to neighboring towns. Public facilities include a municipal library, a primary school, a secondary school, and a community hospital in the district.

The town hosts an annual Riverfest and preserves landmarks such as St. Alder Church, the Old Town Hall, and the Lark Bridge. The Linkern Museum of Local History documents regional life and industry.
