Lineaarisuushäiriöiden

Lineaarisuushäiriöiden, known in English as linearity impairments or nonlinearities, refer to deviations from linear behavior in systems. In a perfectly linear system, the output is directly proportional to the input, and the principle of superposition holds: the response to a sum of inputs is the sum of the responses to individual inputs. Lineaarisuushäiriöitä occur when this proportionality is broken.

These impairments can manifest in various ways. One common form is harmonic distortion, where the system generates new frequencies that are integer multiples of the input frequency. Intermodulation distortion is another type, where different input frequencies interact to create new sum and difference frequencies. Saturation is a nonlinearity where the output signal can no longer increase proportionally with the input, even if the input continues to rise. Hysteresis, where the output depends not only on the current input but also on the past history of inputs, is another example of a linearity impairment.

Linearity impairments are prevalent in many physical systems, including electronic circuits (amplifiers, filters), communication channels, and mechanical structures. In audio systems, for instance, nonlinearities can lead to unwanted coloration of sound. In radio frequency systems, they can cause interference and reduce signal quality. Understanding and mitigating lineaarisuushäiriöitä is crucial for designing accurate and efficient systems across various engineering disciplines. Techniques to address these issues include using more linear components, applying feedback, and employing digital signal processing methods for correction.
