Lainsäädäntöpäätökset refers to the decisions made within the legislative process that result in the creation or amendment of laws. In Finland, this process is primarily undertaken by the Parliament (Eduskunta). When a legislative proposal, often initiated by the government, is presented to Parliament, it undergoes a thorough review. This review involves discussions in parliamentary committees, where experts and stakeholders may be heard, followed by debates and votes in the plenary session.

The legislative process is designed to ensure that proposed laws are carefully considered, debated, and scrutinized before being enacted. A bill typically requires three readings in Parliament to become law. During these readings, amendments can be proposed and voted upon. If a bill passes all readings and receives the required majority, it is then sent to the President of the Republic for confirmation. The President can either approve the bill, in which case it becomes law, or send it back to Parliament with a request for reconsideration. If Parliament upholds its original decision with a majority of at least two-thirds, the President must then sign the bill into law.
