LEDsets

LEDsets are modular collections of light-emitting diodes designed for lighting projects, signage, decorative displays, and educational kits. They are typically sold as pre-wired modules, strings, or boards that can be combined to form larger arrays without complex circuit design. LEDsets may use single-color diodes or multi-color configurations such as RGB and addressable schemes that allow individual LEDs to be controlled.

Common variants include discrete LED sets with individual resistors for simple use at low voltages, and addressable sets that integrate driver ICs (for example, WS2812-type modules) to allow pixel-level control over color and brightness. Modules can be based on through-hole components or surface-mount devices. Power and control options range from simple battery or USB power to 5–12 VDC and dedicated LED drivers. Many sets are designed for plug-and-play use, with connectors or headers for easy expansion.

Applications span hobby electronics, educational laboratories, art installations, architectural or stage lighting, and signage. They are convenient for teaching circuit concepts such as series and parallel connections, current limiting, PWM dimming, and color mixing. Designers must account for voltage drop, heat management, and current draw when scaling large arrays, and should observe polarity and insulation requirements for safety.
