LEDlamppuja

LEDlamppuja are lamps that use light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the primary light source. They come in many shapes and sizes and are used in residential, commercial, automotive, and outdoor lighting. Compared with traditional incandescent or fluorescent lamps, LEDlamppuja typically consume less electricity and produce less heat for the same level of light output.

A typical LEDlamppu consists of an array of LED chips, a driver to regulate electrical current, a heat sink to manage heat, a housing, and optical components. Light output is measured in lumens, and efficiency is expressed as lumens per watt. Color temperature, measured in kelvin, ranges from warm white (around 2700–3000 K) to cool white (5000–6500 K). Lifetimes commonly exceed 15,000 hours and may reach 25,000–50,000 hours with good thermal management. They are available as screw-in bulbs, tubes, spotlights, and integrated lamp designs.

LED technology emerged in the latter half of the 20th century, with white LEDs becoming commercially viable in the 2000s. The shift from incandescent and many fluorescent lamps to LEDlamppuja has been driven by energy efficiency, reduced operating costs, and environmental considerations. Standards and labeling schemes in many regions help ensure performance, safety, and compatibility with dimmers and fixtures.

When selecting LEDlamppuja, considerations include luminous efficacy, color temperature, color rendering, dimmability, and fixture compatibility. LEDs do not contain mercury, but end-of-life disposal and recycling of electronic components is advised. Compliance with regional standards such as IEC/EN, RoHS, and energy labeling helps guide informed choices.
