LEC

The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) is the highest level of professional League of Legends competition in Europe. It is part of Riot Games' global League Championship Series framework and serves as Europe’s regional league. The LEC replaced the EU LCS in 2019 as the branding for Europe’s top-tier competition.

The league runs two annual splits, Spring and Summer. Each split features a regular-season round-robin among participating teams, followed by a knockout playoff stage. The exact number of teams has varied over the years, and the playoffs are conducted as best-of-five series. The top teams from each split earn qualification to international events, most notably the League of Legends World Championship and the Mid-Season Invitational, based on regional performance.

Over the years, European franchises such as Fnatic and G2 Esports have become prominent, with other participating teams including Rogue, Team Vitality, Misfits, MAD Lions, and BDS. The LEC broadcasts its matches on official streams in multiple languages, including English on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, with additional language feeds provided by partner broadcasters.

As a key component of the global LoL esports ecosystem, the LEC emphasizes regional competition and development, while enabling players, coaches, and organizations to compete at the highest level and to represent European teams on the world stage.
