Kylmäsumutus

Kylmäsumutus, also known as cold fogging, is a pest control technique that involves the application of insecticides in a fine mist form. Unlike thermal fogging, which uses heat to vaporize the insecticide, kylmäsumutus uses specialized equipment to atomize the liquid formulation into very small droplets that remain suspended in the air for a longer period. This allows for thorough penetration of treatment areas, reaching cracks, crevices, and other hard-to-access locations where pests may hide.

The process typically involves mixing an insecticide with a carrier liquid, such as water or oil, and then passing this mixture through a nozzle that creates a cold fog. The fine droplets can remain airborne for extended durations, allowing them to drift and settle on surfaces, effectively contacting and killing flying and crawling insects. This method is often employed in enclosed spaces like warehouses, greenhouses, food processing facilities, and residential or commercial buildings to control a variety of pests, including flying insects, crawling insects, and stored product pests.

Kylmäsumutus offers several advantages. Its ability to create a persistent mist ensures comprehensive coverage, even in areas with complex structures. The smaller droplet size also means less overall product may be needed compared to some other application methods. However, it is important that the application is carried out by trained professionals to ensure proper ventilation and safety precautions are observed, as the fog can temporarily reduce visibility and may require occupants to vacate the premises during treatment. The effectiveness of kylmäsumutus depends on factors such as the type of insecticide used, the target pest, and environmental conditions.
