A typical audit process includes planning, scope definition, document review, on-site assessment, interviews and observation, data collection and sampling, analysis against predefined criteria, and reporting. Common audit types include internal audits, supplier or vendor audits, product or technical audits, process audits, and certification audits against standards such as ISO 9001. Audits are guided by an audit plan and often produce nonconformities, observations, and recommendations for improvement.
