Kutensanan
Kutensanan is a term originating from the indigenous Ainu people of Japan. It generally refers to the spiritual beings or deities that inhabit the natural world and play a significant role in Ainu cosmology and daily life. These beings are not seen as gods in the Abrahamic sense but rather as personifications of natural phenomena, animals, and even inanimate objects. Examples of kutensanan include kamuy associated with mountains, rivers, forests, and the sun.
The Ainu believed that kutensanan were powerful and could influence human affairs, both positively and negatively.
