Kuelap
Kuelap is a large pre-Columbian fortress in northern Peru, built by the Chachapoya culture. It sits on a limestone ridge overlooking the Utcubamba valley in the Amazonas region, at an altitude of roughly 2,900 to 3,000 meters. The site comprises massive fortifications and a walled interior that protected a substantial settlement.
Construction is dated roughly between the 6th and 11th centuries CE, though exact dates vary among scholars.
