Kree

The Kree are a fictional alien species in Marvel Comics, known for forming a technologically advanced and militaristic interstellar empire. They originate from the planet Hala in the Kree Empire and were introduced in Fantastic Four #65 (1967), created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In the comics, the Kree have long exerted influence over numerous worlds and species through conquest, diplomacy, and scientific programs.

Physically, the Kree are most commonly depicted as blue-skinned humanoids with formidable physical and intellectual capabilities. Within their empire, there are variations and caste distinctions resulting from genetic and cultural factors, but blue-skinned individuals are the most recognizable.

Political and scientific organization are central to Kree society. The empire is guided in part by the Supreme Intelligence, a mind or artificial construct representing the leadership of the Kree. The Kree value military strength and scientific advancement, and they maintain extensive space fleets, bases, and laboratories across their territory. They are also known for genetic engineering programs and for shaping other species to serve their purposes.

A key element of Kree history is their involvement with humans through the creation of the Inhumans. By exposing human populations to Terrigen Mists, the Kree unlocked latent superhuman abilities in many individuals, giving rise to a distinct line of empowered beings who later sought autonomy from Kree oversight.

In storylines, the Kree have clashed with the Skrulls in the Kree-Skrull War and have intersected with Earth’s heroes, including figures such as Ronan the Accuser, Yon-Rogg, Mar-Vell, and Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel). The Kree appear across comics and adaptations, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where their empire is a central antagonist faction in several films.
