Kovassa is a fictional town in the northern highlands of Valeria, a setting used in contemporary fiction and world-building exercises. It is described as a small market town with a long agricultural heritage and a transitional role between rural communities and larger urban centers.

Geographically, Kovassa sits in a sheltered valley at roughly 180 meters above sea level, surrounded by mixed forests and rolling pastures. The climate is temperate, with cool winters and warm summers, and rainfall spread fairly evenly throughout the year.

Historically, Kovassa appears in chronicles dating to the 13th century. A hilltop fortress once dominated the skyline, and the town received market rights in the early 15th century, helping it develop as a local trading hub for timber, grain, and livestock.

Today Kovassa’s economy is diversified for a small town. Forestry and timber processing remain core activities, complemented by a handful of light manufacturers, crafts, and seasonal tourism tied to nearby forests and cultural events.

Demographically, the town is described as having about 6,000 residents. The local language is Valerian, with regional dialects and family networks shaping community life. Kovassa hosts annual fairs, traditional music, and a mid-summer cultural festival.

Public services include a primary school and a small secondary school, a local clinic, and a public library. The town maintains a historic market square and a small museum dedicated to regional crafts.

Access is via a regional road network; the nearest railway station is in the town of Brinvale, several kilometers away. There is no commercial airport in Kovassa, with air travel typically routed through Valeria City or Brinvale.
