Knowsley
Knowsley is a metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England. It lies to the east of the city of Liverpool and is part of the Liverpool City Region. The borough was created in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 as one of the metropolitan boroughs of Merseyside, largely from areas that had belonged to Lancashire and Cheshire prior to reorganization. Local government is provided by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, which handles services such as education, housing, planning, and waste collection. The borough is represented in Parliament by MPs serving Knowsley-area constituencies and participates in the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority for strategic transport and economic planning.
