Whiston

Whiston is a village and civil parish located in the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside, England. Historically part of Lancashire, it lies on the A58 road between Prescot and Rainhill. The village is situated approximately 6 miles west of St Helens town centre and 8 miles east of Liverpool.

The area has a history dating back to at least the Domesday Book, though its modern development is closely tied to the industrial revolution, particularly coal mining. The Whiston Colliery was a significant employer in the region for many years. Like many former mining communities, Whiston has undergone significant regeneration and diversification of its economy.

The village has a range of local amenities, including shops, schools, and community facilities.
