Khaleesi is a fictional character from the *A Song of Ice and Fire* series by George R. R. Martin and its television adaptation, *Game of Thrones*, created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The term "Khaleesi" is a Dothraki honorific meaning "queen" or "mother of kings," and it is used to address the wife of a khal (Dothraki ruler). In the series, the character is primarily known as Daenerys Targaryen, the last surviving member of House Targaryen, a noble family deposed by Robert Baratheon during the events of the Targaryen civil war.
