Junayksiköiden

Junayksiköiden, a Finnish term, translates to "train units" or "railway units" in English. It refers to a set of coupled railway vehicles designed to operate as a single, integrated train. These units can be composed of various configurations, including locomotives and carriages, or they can be self-propelled multiple units where the propulsion systems are distributed among several carriages.

The concept of a junayksikkö allows for greater flexibility and efficiency in railway operations. Unlike traditional trains where a locomotive is separately attached to a train of carriages, junayksiköiden are often built as a fixed or semi-fixed formation. This can improve acceleration, braking, and passenger comfort.
