Jerkin
Jerkin is a type of fitted jacket or sleeveless garment, typically made of leather, that was popular in Europe from the 16th to the 17th centuries. Often worn over a doublet, the jerkin provided a layer of protection and could also be a decorative element of an outfit. Early jerkins were usually quite short, ending at the waist, but later styles could extend to the hips. They were commonly sleeveless, though some variations with sleeves existed.
The construction of a jerkin varied, but they were often padded or reinforced, especially for military use.
