Jagasrols

Jagasrols is a traditional Indian folk dance form originating from the state of Gujarat, primarily associated with the Koli community, who are traditionally fishermen and sailors. The term "Jagasrols" is derived from the Gujarati words "Jaga" (meaning to wake up or celebrate) and "Srols" (referring to the rhythmic drumming and dancing). This dance is often performed during festivals, weddings, and other celebratory occasions, serving as a vibrant expression of cultural heritage.

The dance is characterized by its energetic movements, which include rhythmic footwork, hand gestures, and expressive facial expressions. Performers, typically women, wear colorful traditional attire such as ghagra cholis (a combination of a skirt and a blouse) and embroidered shawls. The music accompanying Jagasrols is lively, featuring instruments like the dhol (a double-headed drum), dhantal (anklets), and sometimes the shehnai (a wind instrument).
