Jacke

Jacke is a German term for a short to hip-length outer garment with sleeves, designed to be worn over a shirt or sweater. The closest English equivalent is jacket. The word covers a broad family of garments that vary in length, materials, and construction. In everyday German usage, a Jacke is typically lighter and more flexible than a coat, but the boundary between the two can blur.
