Itouch

Itouch is Apple's portable media player and handheld computer commonly referred to as the iPod touch. It was first released in 2007 as part of the iPod family, combining music and video playback with access to the iOS App Store and wireless Internet connectivity. Over the years, several generations added faster processors, improved cameras, larger storage, and updated screens, with the seventh generation debuting in 2019.

The seventh-generation Itouch uses the A10 Fusion chip, a 4-inch Retina display, and comes in 32, 128, or 256 GB models. It includes a rear 8‑megapixel iSight camera and a front-facing FaceTime camera, a Lightning connector, Bluetooth, and dual-band Wi‑Fi. It lacks a cellular modem, so all Internet access requires Wi-Fi; it also retains a 3.5 mm headphone jack and built-in speakers. The device supports typical iOS apps and services and is designed to be a compact platform for media, games, and light computing tasks.

Software and services: It runs iOS with access to the App Store, iMessage, FaceTime, and other Apple services. It supports AR features via ARKit on compatible iOS versions and apps, and it can run many games and media apps. Performance and app compatibility depend on the installed iOS version and the device’s hardware constraints.

Discontinuation and status: Apple stopped selling Itouch models in 2022 and subsequently ended production of the iPod line. Remaining units are available while supplies last, but for most users seeking portable communication and apps today, Apple directs attention to the iPhone, iPad, or other iOS devices.
