IslandsGili is a collaboratively edited online encyclopedia focused on the Gili Islands, a trio of small islands off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. The project aims to document the archipelago’s geography, biodiversity, history, culture, and tourism in a neutral, verifiable manner. Content is contributed by volunteers and governed by editorial guidelines that emphasize reliable sourcing, balanced coverage, and transparent revision histories.

The Gili Islands comprise Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air, along with several smaller islets. They lie in the Lombok Strait, northwest of Lombok Island. The surrounding waters host coral reefs and diverse marine life, contributing to a popular snorkeling and diving destination. The area is known for its pristine beaches, but faces environmental pressures from tourism and climate impacts; most transport on land is by foot, bicycle, or boat.

Historically inhabited by local Sasak communities and influenced by Balinese and Malay trading networks, the islands have developed a tourism-based economy since the late 20th century. IslandsGili covers topics such as local languages, religious practices, crafts, and festivals, highlighting customary governance structures and the role of small-scale fisheries in the coastal economy.
