Inkwashing
Inkwashing is a painting technique in which diluted ink is applied to absorbent surfaces to create translucent tonal washes. It is closely related to traditional ink wash painting and to the broader wash techniques used in watercolor and sumi-e. Inkwashing emphasizes tonal gradation and atmospheric effects rather than strong contour lines, and practitioners often combine washes with line work.
