Indeterminizmus

Indeterminizmus is a philosophical concept that stands in opposition to determinism. Determinism posits that all events, including human actions, are causally determined by prior events and the laws of nature, leaving no room for genuine free will or alternative possibilities. Indeterminizmus, conversely, suggests that not all events are predetermined. There are aspects of reality, or perhaps specific events, that are not necessitated by antecedent causes.

This view often implies that at least some events are contingent, meaning they could have happened differently. In the context of human decision-making, indeterminizmus suggests that individuals possess a degree of freedom to choose between different courses of action, and that these choices are not entirely dictated by prior physical or psychological states. The possibility of genuine chance or randomness in the universe is a key element often associated with indeterminizmus.

The implications of indeterminizmus are significant for concepts such as moral responsibility, blame, and praise. If events are not fully determined, then individuals can be seen as the originators of their actions, making them accountable for them. Various philosophical positions, including libertarianism, often rely on a form of indeterminizmus to support their claims about free will. Scientific theories, particularly in quantum mechanics, have also been interpreted by some as providing evidence for indeterministic processes in the natural world, though the philosophical implications of such findings remain a subject of debate.
