Indeksmotoren

An indeksemotor, often translated as an index motor or indexed motor, is a type of electric motor that utilizes a mechanism to achieve a specific, non-continuous rotational movement. Unlike standard electric motors that rotate continuously, indeksemotoren are designed to move in discrete steps or increments. This stepping action is typically achieved through a combination of the motor's electrical design and a mechanical indexing mechanism.

The core principle behind an indeksemotor involves controlling the motor's rotor position with high precision. This can be accomplished using various methods, including stepping motors which inherently operate in discrete steps, or by employing a standard motor in conjunction with a cam, Geneva drive, or other indexing components. The motor's power is applied in a controlled sequence, causing the output shaft to advance a predetermined angle before stopping. This cycle repeats, creating the indexed motion.

Indeksemotoren find application in situations where precise positioning and controlled movement are paramount. Examples include automated assembly lines, packaging machinery, robotics, printing presses, and various types of automation equipment.
