Hærdningsforløbet, or the hardening process, refers to the series of phases through which a material, typically metal or alloy, undergoes to achieve increased hardness and strength. The hardening process generally begins with heating the material to a specific temperature, known as the austenitizing temperature, where the microstructure transforms into austenite, a phase that allows for increased carbon diffusion.
