Holtegevormd

Holtegevormd is a Dutch term used in engineering, manufacturing, and design to describe an object that includes an internal hollow cavity formed as part of its design or production. The word combines holte (cavity) and gevormd (formed). It denotes a geometry where an exterior envelope surrounds an interior hollow space, which may be open or closed depending on the design.

Applications and production methods: Holtegevormd parts are associated with processes that create or preserve cavities. Common approaches include casting with cores to form internal cavities; molding with inserts or cores; additive manufacturing that leaves hollow sections; extrusion or sheet forming to produce hollow profiles; and machining after initial forming to remove material and reveal a cavity.
