HippocampusSystem
HippocampusSystem is a software platform designed to model and study hippocampal function in memory processing. It provides a modular framework for constructing computational representations of hippocampal circuits, including input pathways, dentate gyrus, CA3, and CA1 structures, as well as interactions with the entorhinal cortex. The system supports both biophysically inspired spiking neuron models and higher-level rate-based approaches, enabling researchers to simulate encoding, pattern separation, pattern completion, and memory consolidation processes.
Architecture and components: The platform includes modules for connectivity, synaptic plasticity rules, and data logging. Users
Development and licensing: Developed by a collaboration of neuroscience labs and AI researchers, HippocampusSystem is released
Applications: Researchers use the system to investigate how pattern separation in the dentate gyrus and pattern
Limitations and reception: As a modeling tool, it abstracts many biological details and may require simplifications
