Hiemushers

Hiemushers, also known as Hiemal Huskers, are a breed of domestic dog that originated in the United States. They are a medium to large-sized breed, typically weighing between 50 to 80 pounds. Hiemushers are known for their thick, double coat, which is designed to withstand the harsh winter conditions of their native environment. This coat comes in a variety of colors, including black, white, and various shades of brown and gray.

The breed was developed in the late 19th century by crossing various breeds, including the Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, and other northern breeds. The goal was to create a dog that could withstand the extreme cold and long periods of darkness that are common in the northern regions of the United States. Hiemushers are known for their friendly and outgoing personalities, making them popular as family pets.

Despite their name, Hiemushers are not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) or any other major kennel club. This is likely due to the breed's relatively small size and the fact that it was not developed with the intention of being a purebred dog. However, Hiemushers are still popular among dog enthusiasts and are often used in sledding and other winter sports.

In terms of care, Hiemushers require regular grooming to maintain their thick coat. They also need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to keep them healthy and happy. Despite their name, Hiemushers are not typically used for herding or other working purposes, but they make excellent companions for active families.
