Description and morphology: It is a deciduous shrub or small tree up to about two meters tall, with slender, upright branches. The leaves are simple, oval to oblong, 3–6 cm long with serrated margins. In late spring, it bears clusters of five-petaled flowers that are pale violet with a white throat and a mild fragrance. The fruit is a glossy black drupe, about 6–8 mm in diameter.

Habitat and distribution: In the fictional universe, Herkimmin is native to temperate montane woodlands of the archipelago of Lyria.
