Healthfactor is a general term used in health analytics to describe any measurable attribute that influences health outcomes, risk, or cost. In practice, health factors are inputs to models and decision-making processes aimed at understanding or improving health at the individual or population level.

Health factors span biological, behavioral, social, environmental, and health-system domains. Biological factors include age, sex, genetic markers, blood pressure, cholesterol, and body mass index. They appear in clinical risk scores, insurance underwriting in regulated markets, and workplace wellness programs. Data sources include national surveys (for example, health and lifestyle questionnaires), electronic health records, claims data, and wearable devices. Analytical methods range from traditional regression models to machine learning algorithms that handle complex, non-linear relationships between factors.

Limitations and ethical considerations are important: data quality and comparability can vary, factors may be confounded, and there is a risk of stigmatization or discrimination if health factors are misused.
