Hapettumiskäsittely, also known as oxidation treatment, is a thermal process used to improve the surface properties of certain metals, particularly steel. The primary goal is to create a controlled oxide layer on the metal surface, which can enhance its resistance to corrosion and wear. This is achieved by heating the metal in an oxygen-rich atmosphere, typically air or a controlled gas mixture, at elevated temperatures.
