Glóins

Glóins is a fictional character from J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium. He is a Dwarf, a member of the Dúnedain people, known for their mining and craftsmanship. Glóins is most famously known for being one of the thirteen companions of the wizard Gandalf and the hobbit Bilbo Baggins on their quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug, as detailed in the novel The Hobbit. He is the son of Thorin Stonehand and the brother of Thorin Oakenshield.

During the quest, Glóins served as a loyal and capable member of Thorin's company. He participated in many of the company's adventures, including their escape from the Goblins in the Misty Mountains and their encounters with various creatures and peoples. Glóins's skills as a warrior and his stoutheartedness proved valuable to the company in their perilous journey. He was a steadfast companion, often offering counsel and support to Thorin and the others.

After the Battle of Five Armies, where Smaug was slain and the Lonely Mountain reclaimed, Glóins returned with the surviving members of the company. His lineage and adventures are part of the rich history of the Dwarves in Middle-earth, contributing to the detailed world-building Tolkien created. His descendants, such as Gimli son of Glóin, would later play significant roles in subsequent events, such as the War of the Ring.
