GlassinePapiere, commonly referred to as glassine paper, is a translucent, smooth sheet made from refined cellulose fibers. It has a glossy, glassy appearance and high translucency, allowing visibility of its contents while providing a protective barrier. The material is produced from high-quality pulp with significant calendaring and low lignin content, yielding a relatively grease- and moisture-resistant surface that remains flexible and tear-resistant for everyday handling.

The paper is widely used as protective interleaving and wrapping material. In archival and collectibles circles, glassine is employed to separate stamps, coins, photographs, drawings, and documents to prevent abrasion and sticking. It also serves in food packaging and candy wrapping due to its clarity and generally food-safe characteristics, though grading and coatings vary by application.

Weights can vary, affecting rigidity and protective qualities.
