GPStracked

GPStracked is a modular GPS tracking platform designed for asset tracking and fleet management. It provides real-time location data, telemetry, and a suite of tools for visualization, alerting, and route optimization.

The platform combines hardware GPS trackers, a cloud-based backend, developer APIs, and mobile and web applications. Trackers transmit location and sensor data over cellular networks, with optional satellite connectivity for remote areas. The backend ingests, normalizes, and stores data, while the frontend tools present maps, dashboards, and reports.

Key features include real-time tracking, configurable geofencing, historical playback, alerting rules, occupancy and maintenance reminders, battery-optimized operation, and offline data buffering for intermittently connected devices. It supports programmatic access via REST and WebSocket APIs.

The architecture emphasizes modularity and security. The device layer includes GNSS receivers and environmental sensors; the transport layer supports LTE/5G, NB-IoT, and satellite links. The backend comprises ingestion services, time-series storage, analytics, and a permissions-driven access layer. Client apps implement role-based access control and TLS encryption.

GPStracked targets logistics, construction, equipment rental, and field service sectors. It supports multi-vendor hardware, configurable data schemas, and integrations with popular enterprise systems through connectors and webhooks.

The project began as a research initiative and evolved into a commercial product in the mid-2010s, with ongoing updates to API maturity, device ecosystem, and privacy controls. It is used by small and large organizations seeking scalable, standards-based asset tracking.
